ADNOC Head Office, UAE

GHD was appointed to design the electrical, communications, fire alarm, mechanical, and plumbing fitout services for the new ADNOC head office building in Abu Dhabi. The building comprises 72 levels of offices topped with a feature frame, equipment rooms and a helipad. ADNOC is the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, a major client in the region.

The team detailed such diverse systems as the building wide external feature lighting, audio visual installations on every floor and a data centre. GHD designed all specialist lighting, audio visual and communications systems for the venue.

BAE Offices integrated refurbishment

GHD provided the electrical engineering building services designs for an integrated fitout in a new building constructed on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD. The fitout scope covers 6000sqm over three levels and accommodates approximately 200 staff.

The facility included a number of highly secure shielded spaces, defence grade data centre and fibre optic cable distribution systems, electronic laboratories and workshops, and Defence related simulation and test rigs.

Equipment Rack Analysis and Design Using CFD Air Flow & Thermal Modelling

Victoria is rolling out a new Smartcard based ticket system for all train, tram and bus services, statewide. All equipment is ethernet based and has to be IP-addressable, even on the remotest country station platform.

Expansion of University Malaysia Terengganu

Henderson Champion Arch Residential Development

This project is a large residential development in Changsha and is being developed by Hong Kong Henderson Land Development Company Ltd. The development has a land area of 241,038sq m and a total building area of 442,000sq m. GHD has undertaken the architectural design in phase one of the project working on a building area of 240,000sq m.

HNA Edinburgh Defence Precinct

The Edinburgh Defence Precinct is a new defence facility at Edinburgh in South Australia. The project comprised a generational redevelopment of RAAF Base Edinburgh providing new facilities to accommodate an Army Battle Group and included the redevelopment of Base Support facilities and infrastructure.

GHD provided design management and integrated design services including architecture, interior design, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulic, communications and security engineering, and environmental consulting, in association with a range of specialist sub-consultants.

Telecommunications upgrade

ElectraNet, South Australia's electricity transmission specialist, upgraded its telecommunications network extending approximately 900km. This upgrade was identified in a draft Telecommunications Network Strategic Plan prepared by GHD.

This upgrade allows ElectraNet to service South Australia's electricity tranmission requirements with up-to-date technology and an increased telecommunications network capacity.

Traeger Park

Traeger Park sporting complex is the main sporting facility for Alice Springs and is a leading Australian venue for national and international sporting events.

In 2003, GHD prepared the master plan for the redevelopment of Traeger Park. This process involved public consultation, scoping and concept development for any future upgrading of the facility.

Upstate Medical University, Geneva Tower, Syracuse, New York USA

GHD was instrumental in the renovation of the existing 23 story, 137,000 square foot Geneva Tower building located in downtown Syracuse. The 1974 building was completely gutted and renovated to include two floors of common spaces and 21 floors of apartments for students attending the Upstate Medical University. 

GHD provided HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design and construction administration services for the project. We also served as the LEED consultant for the owner, design team and construction manager and verified that all systems were working as efficiently as possible and in accordance with the contract documents. This included facilitating the LEED certification process and creating a roadmap to guide the inclusion of sustainable concepts and processes into the project. As a result, we identified that the renovated building would use 40 percent less energy.

Wynyard Walk pedestrian tunnel tender design, Sydney

Wynyard Walk is a pedestrian walkway in the Sydney CBD linking Wynyard Station and the multi-billion dollar Barangaroo waterfront development. The project comprises a pedestrian tunnel (110 meters in length), a multilevel entrance building, underpinning of two large buildings, a pedestrian bridge across Sussex Street and a new public plaza at the corner of Kent and Napoleon Street. GHD was Technical Advisor to Transport for NSW, providing technical review and support across all engineering disciplines for the design and construction phases of the project, including: geotechnical, tunnelling, demolition, structure, building and tunnel services, fire engineering, noise and vibration, and project management, including support for commercial negotiations, as well as Building Code of Australia (BCA) and disability access advice.

The 9 m wide tunnel (initially valued at AUD284M) is at shallow cover within the Triassic Hawkesbury Sandstone. Complex interactions with existing high-rise tower foundations and congested overlying services corridors were a critical aspect of the project.
