Brewery upgrade in Queensland

The extension of the Carlton & United Brewery at Yatala in Queensland has more than doubled its production capacity.

The 3 million-hectalitre expansion of the brewery increased annual capacity to 5.5 million hectalitres. The GHD team provided structural, mechanical, civil, hydraulics, electrical, architectural, water process and chemical services, as well as project management contract administration.

Kraft Cheese Manufacturing Facility Extension

GHD was the lead designer and construction manager for the development of an existing food processing factory at Suttontown, Mount Gambier. The works included an extension to an existing chiller, and construction of a new pasteuriser building and covered loading/unloading bay.

GHD’s involvement included the design of all architectural, civil structural and building services for the new facilities. GHD also acted as construction manager for the majority of the new works.

Lamb export processing plant

A new high-capacity lamb processing plant at Punta Arenas in remote Patagonia is online in just 20 months.

At the start of the project, local client ,Carnes Agromar, engaged GHD/ProAnd*  to conduct the initial development study, complete the conceptual and detailed design, and providing all engineering services through to plant commissioning.

Dad's Pies

The iconic New Zealand gourmet pie maker, Dad’s Pies, which has experienced major domestic and export business growth, engaged GHD to provide whole-of-project services to upgrade production facilities at its Auckland plant. The project involved a trebling of production capacity and the incorporation of advanced process automation, to create an export compliance facility with the appropriate flows and efficiencies to meet future demand.

The GHD team designed the new process, assisted in selecting the plant and equipment, designed the new 3400sq m extension, and project managed construction and installation of services. The existing plant remained in production during project delivery.

Processing plant for cheese maker

GHD provided the process design, plant layouts, services systems and project management services for the expansion of the Fonterra Eltham plant in New Zealand. This boosts yearly production to 90,000 tonnes of cheese product.

Fonterra is the world’s largest diary exporter, exporting 95 percent of its diary products to consumers in more than 140 countries.

Upgrade of abattoir effluent treatment system

Cargill Beef Australia needed to upgrade its abattoir effluent treatment system to increase capacity, reduce risk of odour emissions and meet trade waste discharge requirements.  A GHD specialist team investigated the existing facilities and analysed all the data.

Cargill Beef Australia accepted a concept design for the system upgrade, biogas recovery, conditioning and cogeneration as a preferred option.
