GHD has the experience and multidisciplinary engineering resources to handle the entire life cycle of oil and gas processing and pipeline projects: from conceptual design/routing to detail engineering and commissioning. We understand the variability and complexity in handling hydrocarbon gases and liquids and has designed projects that included Coal Seam Gas(CSG), natural gas, crude oil, refinery products and natural gas liquids. We work collaboratively with our client from onset of the project, beginning with an evaluation of the options. As projects progress from concept to detail design, we focus on meeting the project objectives and creating value for the client.

Hydrocarbon processing facilities handle products which are flammable and hazardous, often at elevated pressures and temperatures. GHD delivers both greenfield developments and brownfield plant expansion or plant debottlenecking projects. Our experience includes a large number of successful projects for CSG, conventional natural gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), refineries and other hydrocarbon processing facilities.

Community expectations demand that pipelines and facilities be designed and constructed to minimise the risk of harm to the public . Pipelines projects must also be delivered with minimum impact on the environment and cultural heritage, whilst providing a return on investment for pipeline owners. Our team is experienced in identifying and managing these concerns.. We coordinate with regulators and environmental, cultural, land service and legal professionals to achieve a design that balances the impact to the public, environment and cultural resources with the project goals.

Malcolm has more than 23 years’ experience in the oil and gas, and hazardous chemicals industries. His experience spans all phases of project design as well as construction, commissioning and operations roles in South Africa, the UK and Australia. Malcolm joined GHD 14 years ago and has had technical and project management roles on process plant and pipeline projects as well as GHD operational roles.
