GHD has been awarded a contract to provide the Australian Solar Institute (ASI) with ongoing communications support. The work involves the delivery of a long-term communications plan, a variety of communication materials and the provision of ongoing communications support.

Hydroelectricity feasibility studies in Malaysia

Malaysia has embarked on a major program to develop its energy resources, with the provision of hydroelectric power as a core program component.

Sarawak Energy Berhad engaged GHD to conduct both pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, encompassing technical and financial issues, for the Baleh hydroelectricity project.

Oceanlinx – Port Kembla Wave Energy

GHD was commissioned to design the electrical interconnection and control system for a 300kW wave-to-energy system in Port Kembla, New South Wales.

The wave to energy conversion is based on a parabolic wall to reflect and focus the incoming waves, oscillatory wave chamber and turbine. Later commissions included a review of the basis of design and gap analysis.

Waterloo Wind Farm

GHD provided Superintendency and related services to deliver the 111 MW Waterloo Wind Farm, completed ahead of the overall project schedule, under budget and with no lost time injuries.

Roaring 40s Renewable Energy (Roaring 40s) are the developers of the wind farm located 100 km north-east of Adelaide near the township of Waterloo. The wind farm consists of 37 V90 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3 MW, with the possibility of a further six turbines to be delivered in the future. The generators sit atop 80 m high towers set along a 17 km long ridgeline.

Paul Wootton

Paul has 25 years' experience in the development and delivery of heavy industrial projects, in both consulting and operating roles. He has more than 12 years' experience in management of renewable and distributed power projects (100kW to 50MW) using both conventional fuels and alternative fuels (such as landfill gas, coal seam methane, biomass, municipal solid waste, CNG, LNG, synthesis gas and solar-thermal). During this time he has also had key roles in projects involving gas processing and pyrolysis/gasification of household waste.

Paul also has experience in the pulp and paper, above ground mining and bulk materials handling industries.

Ray is a Mechanical Engineer, has more than 13 years of experience in the energy sector specialising in renewables including wind farm developments, concentrating solar power systems, solar photovoltaic systems, waste-to-energy technologies, energy efficiency and gas pipelines in Asia Pacific. Project experience includes wind resource monitoring, technology and project evaluations, technical due diligence, environmental assessment, systems design, and contract management.
