John Velimesis

John brings over 20 years of program, project, and operations management experience to GHD. Successfully leading public and private projects in civil design and environmental studies, and implementing sustainable design practices, he is adept in developing community consensus on sensitive projects; with proven skills building partnerships to provide solutions to complex problems. John has led multi-disciplinary teams in the modeling, design, and restoration of disturbed fluvial systems on migrating reaches of the Pilchuck, Yakima, and Puyallup rivers; enhancing fisheries habitat and meeting or exceeding expectations of clients, State regulatory agencies, and tribal stakeholders.

John has a Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Computational Hydraulics and Fluvial Geomorphology from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Resource Management from Lehigh University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Washington, and a Certified Floodplain Manager.
