The challenges of financial uncertainty, sustainability and rapid population growth mean that it has never been more critical to develop innovative ways to plan and deliver infrastructure. So how do we unlock our innovation potential?
This was the question addressed at this year’s GHD Executive Forum in Melbourne. Over 200 people came together to identify the barriers and enablers and kick-start an action plan for the industry.
The event commenced with a provocative and thought-provoking presentation from leading innovation champion, Anders Sorman Nilsson.
This was followed by a 90 minute panel discussion with Anders and four panellists -, Rob Skinner, MD, Melbourne Water; Victoria White, GM Reform, Infrastructure Australia; Greg Allen, COO, Carnegie Wave and GHD’s Jeremy Stone.
The panel discussed ways in which the infrastructure industry can unlock their innovation potential across the project lifecycle, including:
- Taking an innovative approach to strategic planning and demand management
- Getting the most out of suppliers: Briefing for innovation
- Capitalising on our clever people: Creating an innovative culture in project delivery
- Justifying investment into high risk processes and technologies
The event was wrapped up by the graphic recorder, Nils Vesk, who used drawings produced during the panel discussion to recap on the key points of the day.
