Remedation Guidance for adaptive site management
The Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (ITRC) has released its long awaited guidance document, Remediation Management of Complex Sites.
Developed by a team with members from state regulatory agencies, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), multiple industries, consulting community, public stakeholders and academia, this guidance incorporates and refers to best management practices, tools, and technologies from the USEPA, DOD, ITRC, and others to form a new "Adaptive Site Management" approach.
The Remediation Management of Complex Sites guidance document provides valuable insights and recommendations for identifying and managing sites with significant technical and non-technical challenges that prevent remediating a site in a reasonable time frame. The adaptive site management process is presented in a flow chart with each step laid out in detail within the guidance. Numerous case studies describe real-world applications of remediation and remediation management at complex sites are also included.
