The challenge
Design the facility’s external shell and interior plan to enhance Australia’s science research capabilities, demonstrate best practice in energy efficiency, and engage a diversity of stakeholders and audiences about its research potential.
Our response
The innovative building features a 1000 m2 computer hall with energy efficient distinct temperature and humidity profiles to house high performance, petascale computing systems. The hall sits above a 1300 m2 basement and is supported by a 1150 m2 detached annex plant building.
In addition to creating a high-tech environment conducive to accelerating discovery by scientists and researchers, the centre is complemented by a public outreach exhibition space that is envisioned to showcase the offering to a diversity of groups.

The impact
