Al Wakrah Hospital

GHD is the principal consultant for the design and post -contract supervision of this 300-bed, 122,000sqm acute care hospital, south of Doha.

The design is based on concentric circles, evocative of a stone thrown in a pond, to symbolise the outward growth of the hospital as it it expands into the future. The circular design allows for maximum use of light, which is both environmentally sound and also thought to be beneficial in the healing of patients.

In providing a full range of services from conception to completion, GHD is actively developing a facility that contributes to the health and well-being of a nation. Blending traditional Arabic and modern architecture, this development incorporates design aspects so patrons can associate with and embrace their environment.
