Hornsdale Wind Farm

Share on:

Hornsdale Wind Farm is a 315MW renewable energy project consisting of 99 wind turbines located in South Australia.

For renewable energy development company, Neoen, the Hornsdale site presented an opportunity to take advantage of outstanding winds and establish one of Australia’s most competitive renewable wind farm installations. Neoen Australia’s Managing Director, Frank Woitiez, described it as, “an extremely compelling project” with “broad support from the local community”.

In 2013, GHD was engaged to support Neoen through the acquisition, development and project financing phases of its first wind farm in Australia. Neoen Australia’s Operations Director, Laurent Francisci, explains, “Our cultural background, our ‘hands-on’ approach and our expectations in terms of quality and speed were the drivers for selecting service providers to accompany us in the journey.”

In August 2015, GHD was further appointed as the Owner’s Engineer and Principal’s Representative for this development.

Power Generation

We cover technologies from conventional fossil fuel firing in thermal power plants (e.g. sub-critical and supercritical coal-fired plants, coal seam methane and natural gas fired gas turbines, combined cycle power plant and cogeneration) to emerging technologies such as integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) and polygeneration (combined power, heat and chemicals).

Our teams can engage with you at all levels and stages of project delivery – from concept design and feasibility studies through to all aspects of asset management.
