GHD is working in partnership with WMATA on an Asset Management Programme that will achieve 'whole life asset management' across the authority’s bus and rail fleet and infrastructure assets. This will assist WMATA's mission to provide safe, equitable, reliable and cost-effective public transit.

GHD's team with skills across all aspects of asset management, including planning, strategy implementation and asset knowledge management, is working with WMATA to:

  • Develop the links between WMATA’s strategic goals and its asset management
    • Asset Management Policy: obligations, objectives and principles
    • Asset Management Strategy and Objectives: how to deliver the policy intentions
    • Asset Management Plans
    • Asset Maintenance Policies: Business processes to support operations, maintenance and rehabilitation or replacement decisions
  • Identify the information needed to support the AM Programme
    • Asset definitions and hierarchies
    • Asset life cycle costing
    • Asset condition and performance Indicators
  • Enhance processes for managing assets under WMATA’s stewardship
    • Asset commissioning and transitioning:
    • Asset management system monitoring: to enable a shift from reactive to proactive asset management.
  • Help develop the organisation capability to deliver the programme
