The USD4 billion Yemen LNG processing plant located at Bal Haf peninsula is Yemen’s largest industrial investment.

Malaysian based Contractor Muhibbah Engineering won the Subcontract for the marine works and engaged GHD for the detailed design of the LNG loading jetty and Seawater Intake and Outfall. The detailed design work included the following:

  • An 800m trestle consisting of a concrete roadway and steel pipe way truss supported on steel piles
  • A multi-level loading platform consisting a two-way trussed system and concrete deck supported by a pair of interconnected jacket frames, 6 Mooring dolphins and 4 berthing dolphins consisting of jacket frames, anchored by piles driven to the bedrock through the legs in each corner
  • A Small craft landing
  • A multi storey substation building
  • Jetty services including lighting, earthing and lightning protection
  • A 600m intake and 900m outfall consisting of two 2.3m diameter GRP pipelines and precast concrete diffuser
