The challenge
Our response
This design objective was to capture the spirit of the Pilbara and create a working environment that enhances productivity. The functional objective was to achieve programmatic functional clustering, shared facilities and common support services to enhance effectiveness and create cost-efficiencies.
Neighbourhoods with free seating were allocated based on department locations and requirements. The disbursement of leaders amongst the staff improved the key requirement of communication and transparency, with only two offices provided.
Quiet zones, private enclaves and informal meeting areas further enhanced activity-based working and collaboration. Formal meeting rooms were dispersed as bookable shared facilities.
A large central learning and sharing space also provides for remote community engagement and communication.
The design concept blended inspiration from the natural colourful environment and Pilbara’s mining industry in an “industrial chic “style. The design targeted 5 Green Star and 4.5 star NABERS ratings.
