Purposeful changemaker and water industry disruptor, Lindsey Brown, has been appointed to the position of Australian Market Leader – Water at global professional services firm, GHD. This appointment will see Lindsey play a leading role in assisting clients in the water sector to identify and leverage opportunities to leave sustainable legacies for people and communities.

In her previous role as GHD’s Market Leader – Water for Victoria, Lindsey made a significant impact as a dynamic and collaborative leader who puts people at the heart of everything she does.

“I’m fully energised and optimistic about the opportunities my new role will bring, with my focus on transforming the theoretical into the practical and utilising a human-centric approach that ensures we put people first in all that we do,” says Lindsey.

Lindsey is passionate about providing opportunities for her colleagues, partners and clients to connect in meaningful ways that drive tangible industry outcomes. In 2021 she led the development of GHD’s Sustainable Procurement in the Water Sector White Paper, using her leadership platform to share knowledge, collaborate and originate a collective approach to helping social and sustainable enterprises.

Lindsey has more than 15 years’ experience, across three continents, in environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility and public policy development in the water industry. She has led the development of multiple strategic policy and planning documents for Melbourne, Sydney and Perth that have underpinned lasting economic and cultural legacies for people and communities. “With water availability becoming less predictable, we need to be transformational in our approaches to sustainable water management, and I’m committed to accelerating positive change and challenging what we think we know to uncover both new and reimagined possibilities,” says Lindsey.

“We have the technical expertise and ethical commitment to help our clients and partners navigate critical issues, such as climate change, decarbonisation and urbanisation. I know that together we can build more resilient and inspired communities.

“It’s a privilege to step into this leadership position at GHD and help build what’s needed in water for the generations to come,” adds Lindsey.

Lindsey is an Ambassador for WaterAid Australia and a committee member for both the International Water Association and WaterAble, where she is working to improve opportunities in the water sector for people with disabilities. She has also served as the Australian Water Association’s Victoria Branch President.
