GHD is sponsoring a panel discussion which will take place on Tuesday 21 May at The Bury Theatre during the first day of UKREiiF. The panel discussion will focus on ‘Energy Transition, Resilience, Security and Place’, where panelists, including John Allison, Deputy Director of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DEZNZ), Kate McGavin, Chief Strategy and Policy Officer of the UK Infrastructure Bank, Tom McGarry, Deputy Director of National Grid, and Cllr Bev Craig, a Leader in Manchester City Council, will appraise the current state of play in country and the key steps across infrastructure, policy and investment that must be taken to unlock, rather than stifle, development.

Of GHD’s involvement, EMEA Future Communities Lead Steve Scott said:

“We are delighted to be a key partner of UKREiiF again this year, showcasing our commitment to creating resilient, connected communities in the UK. As partners of the Institute of Place Management (IPM), we are eager to bring GHD’s local and international experience, and commitment to place, to help shape a decarbonised future for British businesses and communities.

As we collectively commit efforts to accelerate decarbonisation in the UK, how we carve the path forward for an equitable, fair, and just transition, whilst balancing both local community and national needs, is going to be a challenge. We look forward to meeting our clients and industry partners at UKREiiF to develop new approaches and thought around net zero and place, the role of critical infrastructure, and maximising the social outcomes for communities.”

Keith Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of UKREiiF, said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming GHD back as partners to the annual UKREiiF event. GHD has almost 100 years of experience within it’s field so we’re expecting that their session addressing the intersection of the energy transition with resilience placemaking, to be extremely beneficial to our delegation.”

Led by the UK’s leading property events company, Built Environment Networking, and supported by some of the biggest UK property and infrastructure companies, the second annual UKREiiF event will be held in Leeds on 21-23 May 2023. The forum will attract inward investment, generate economic growth and drive a more sustainable and inclusive culture within the property and construction industries.
