GHD recognised for consulting excellence in Australia
GHD’s projects and individuals have been honoured at Consult Australia Awards 2025. Officially announced at a gala dinner in Sydney, the awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the built and natural environment consulting sector.
“This recognition from our industry and peers acknowledges the commitment of our people as we strive to solve some of our clients’ most pressing challenges,” says Dean McIntyre, GHD’s Executive General Manager – Australia. “These awards also celebrate fantastic outcomes achieved for communities around Australia – something that would not be possible without our valued clients.”
Central Station – Winner – Innovation for Excellence Award
GHD and Aurecon have been awarded the Innovation Award for Excellence their groundbreaking work in creating a large-scale “digital twin” of Sydney’s Central Station. The project was also highly commended in Planning for a Digital Future category.
The Central Station Main Works project was the most significant upgrade to Sydney’s Central Station in over 100 years. Faced with existing plans that were outdated and unreliable, the GHD/Aurecon team, in collaboration with Laing O’Rourke and Transport for NSW, embarked on a pioneering digital planning solution by creating a large-scale federated digital twin. This digital twin, used to manage and coordinate the project scope, was unprecedented for a train station or infrastructure project of this size and complexity in Australia.
Alex Horton, GHD's Project Manager says, "We are thrilled to have our team's hard work and collaboration recognised with this prestigious award. The Sydney Metro project is reshaping Australia's transport landscape, with the new metro platform at Central Station being a groundbreaking engineering achievement. Overcoming the challenges of construction in a live operational environment at Australia's busiest railway hub, without disrupting commuters, showcases our commitment to excellence and innovation."
