GHD thanks Rob Knott, who is retiring after leading the company as Chair since 2017 and a Director since 2009.

As Chair, Rob initiated the establishment of a specific ESG Committee of the Board to assist the company to navigate these rapidly changing governance expectations. Rob was also instrumental in the establishment of the GHD Foundation in 2020, which seeks to provide access to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education and employment for under-represented groups.

Rob previously led the company’s operations in Asia Pacific, spanning the Philippines, New Zealand, Chile and China. Rob has played a leading role in more than 20 successful mergers, which have diversified GHD’s operations across US, Canada, Asia Pacific and the UK.

Rob is an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia, the highest grade of membership awarded for outstanding achievement and limited to 200 living members.

Ian Fraser, Chair, says, “Rob is a champion and advocate of GHD’s employee ownership model, He has always thought of himself as a custodian who is creating value and transferring it to the next generation of shareholders.”

Jim Giannopoulos, GHD’s Global CEO, comments, “Rob’s legacy is one of inclusive and values-driven leadership that has been instrumental in getting GHD to where we are today. GHD’s success has been made possible by the shared commitment of our people to our culture and to our values of safety, teamwork, respect and integrity. For Rob, these are not just words. They are principles he lives by.”
