What opportunities exist for technical development?
At GHD, we take your professional learning and development seriously. In addition to the opportunity to work alongside experienced technical specialists on projects all over the world, we have several initiatives designed specifically to build your technical career. These opportunities are open to everyone. They include things like participation in technical conferences, mentoring and involvement in service lines.
What are service lines?
We have 48 global service lines across GHD. These are our technical communities of practice. These service lines allow you to connect with peers right across the whole of the business to share knowledge and discover interesting projects and opportunities to get involved with. The beauty of our service line communities is that they are open to everyone and span the entirety of GHD. Whether you’re an engineer, architect, environmental scientist, business professional, or stakeholder consultant, we have you covered.

What are technical conferences at GHD?
Our global in-person technical conferences are a fantastic professional development opportunity, bringing our people together from right across the world in exciting locations such as Vancouver, Texas, Cairns, and Manchester. These conferences spotlight our technical excellence, innovation and solutions we offer across our service lines. Anyone can apply to go, and those who have attended say it’s been an incredibly enriching career experience.
Can I get one-on-one mentoring?
Absolutely! One thing we’re really proud of is our Mentoring@GHD program, which provides mentoring opportunities for both career and technical development. This program allows you to connect with more experienced professionals across GHD who can guide you through your career journey. More than 3,000 people have taken part in the mentoring program since it was launched in 2024. One mentee from our Brisbane office, who was paired with a mentor in New Zealand, shared with me recently that it was an incredible experience to connect with someone so senior from another country.
