GHD expands Maritime and Coastal services in Houston/Gulf Region
GHD, a leading professional services company, is strengthening its Maritime and Coastal business presence in the Houston/Gulf region to support growing infrastructure requirements and capitalize on increasing investment in port infrastructure, water management and coastal resilience.
The expansion builds on our GHD's recent successes in the region, including the Port of New Orleans 2025 Master Plan Update which focuses on strategic assessment, cargo synthesis and market analysis for both industrial real estate and cruise sectors.
GHD’s work for major Gulf ports includes serving as the lead for the development of the comprehensive asset management program for the Port of Houston since 2020. Working with all business groups across the Port – from operations and real estate to finance and risk management – our team has delivered multiple phases of the Port of Houston's asset management program through a competitive selection process, with subsequent phases awarded through sole source contracts based on performance excellence.
In addition, we were selected to serve as the Port of Houston's owner representative during implementation of its Enterprise Resource Planning program. Our professionals work on-site daily, representing the Port's interests and collaborating with implementation teams to optimize platform design for the Port's operations. We also provide technical support to the Port's change management team, enabling effective adoption of new systems and processes.
In addition, we are supporting the development of a 20-million-gallon-a-day desalination plant with Kiewit and the City of Corpus Christi, working closely with the Port of Corpus Christi where the facility will be located.
"The Gulf region represents a critical hub for maritime commerce, energy transportation and coastal management," said Victor Tirado, Maritime and Coastal Market Sector Lead at GHD. "Our expertise in marine construction, environmental monitoring and water infrastructure enables us to deliver innovative solutions to the unique challenges facing Gulf Coast communities."
With this strategic expansion in the Houston/Gulf region, we reinforce our commitment to developing resilient coastal infrastructure and sustainable water solutions. Our integrated approach to maritime engineering, coastal management, infrastructure management, and water security, positions us as a key partner in addressing the region's infrastructure challenges while supporting long-term economic growth and environmental sustainability throughout the Gulf Coast.
