An increase in sustainability and resiliency are becoming more of a focus for industrial water users, it is becoming clear the approaches to water needs and usage are changing. We cannot continue to approach water and related issues in the same way as they have been previously.

What trends are we seeing the industrial water market?

An increase in sustainability and resiliency are becoming more of a focus for industrial water users, it is becoming clear the approaches to water needs and usage are changing. We cannot continue to approach water and related issues in the same way as they have been previously. An emerging importance is being placed on water reuse and circularity. Another trend we are seeing is in using water that is “fit for purpose,” the industrial water market is looking more frequently at “designer’ or specialty waters. 

How is awareness of sustainability in the industrial water market evolving?

There is an increase by the industrial water market to invest in water reuse (or water reclamation) to become more sustainable. You may hear or have already heard the term water circularity being used more to describe this trend. This development is also leading to more interest in replenishing critical water sources where possible to maintain and contribute to the future of water sustainability. 

What are you most excited about doing in 2021 at GHD?

GHD is a company I have known for a long time. When working with them previously, I have admired their company culture and professionalism. I am excited to now be a part of that culture, to work closely with engineers and professionals who share my passion for water and the environment.
