Bringing global experience to the most comprehensive end-to-end hydrogen feasibility pilot
Energy company Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has awarded GHD the contract to provide engineering and support services to its ground-breaking Hydrogen to Infinity (H2∞) project in Lodi, California – a major win which cements our reputation in the design and delivery of landmark hydrogen projects as part of our Future Energy initiative.
H2∞ is the United States’ most comprehensive end-to-end hydrogen feasibility pilot. It will study the potential of renewable or ‘green’ hydrogen to be blended into high pressure natural gas transmission systems, offering PG&E customers a cleaner, lower-carbon energy source. In so doing, the project assures to close key knowledge gaps, furthering the industry’s ability to accelerate the decarbonisation of natural gas systems using hydrogen blending, globally.
We will leverage our international hydrogen expertise to provide preliminary engineering design services to H2∞, the first in a series of projects that will form the basis of the Northern California Hydrogen Hub. We will also provide PG&E with Hub development support services, drawing on our experience working with clients on the development of hydrogen hubs in other parts of the world.
"This project and the Hydrogen Hub that will be created represent a powerful, impactful, holistic solution to energy and climate change challenges as we continue to help clients and communities navigate the transition to a future of clean, affordable, reliable and low-carbon energy. It is at complex intersections such as these that GHD is able to deliver integrated solutions making energy, water and communities sustainable for generations to come."
