Leading employee-owned professional services company, GHD is growing strongly in New Zealand, with its local employee numbers increasing by more than 20 percent over the past year.
Al Monro, GHD’s Manager, New Zealand, says, “Our team continues to evolve in response to growing demand for our services from both private and public sector clients around the country. From designing transport projects in Auckland to helping councils develop policy to deal with natural hazards, the work we do is more diverse than ever and we are attracting leading professionals from NZ and abroad.”
The company has recently welcomed six experienced leaders to support the continuing growth of its New Zealand business.
Andrew Roy, Kathryn Musgrave, Debbie Fellows, Tim Harty Justine Bennett and Ian Froggatt enhance GHD’s capabilities in management, transportation, geotechnical, environment, water and infrastructure technology. The incoming talent brings extensive local and international experience to complement GHD’s local team of professionals.
GHD, which is privately owned by its people, employs almost 480 people in New Zealand, with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Taumarunui, Hastings, Palmerston North and Dunedin. The team is part of a connected global network of 10,000 people.
Al adds, “We connect our local clients to the technical skills they need, whether they are located in Christchurch, Canberra or Calgary. In turn, our global clients have access to the depth of capabilities and experience we have in New Zealand.”
Further information on the appointments:
- Andrew Roy relocated from GHD in Melbourne to lead the New Zealand business in the northern region. He has over 23 years’ experience across the environment sector. Most recently, Andrew was the Project Manager for the North East Link, Victoria’s biggest ever transport project.
- Kathryn Musgrave, Technical Director, Operations and Optimisation. Kathryn joins GHD from the NZ Transport Agency and is a specialist in operations, optimisation, transportation and intelligent transport systems. She has more than 24 years’ experience in the road transportation, operations and asset management fields.
- Debbie Fellows, Project Director and Delivery Leader. Debbie has over 25 years’ experience in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. She has a broad range of experience including geotechnical and contaminated site investigation, retaining wall and foundation design, slope stability, landfills, earthworks, earth dam design, linear infrastructure and improvement and will be leading projects across the business.
- Tim Harty, Waikato Business Development Lead. Tim will focus on delivering efficiency for our clients in project delivery and cost outcomes. He has experience in running of the roading, Three Waters, refuse, parks, property and facilities portfolios for Waikato District Council. Before this, he worked for Hamilton City Council.
- Justine Bennett, Lead Consultant for Environment and Water. Justine is an experienced environmental scientist and has previously led natural resources teams. She has over 20 years’ experience in environmental management focusing on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, including consenting and community consultation.
- Ian Froggatt, Lead Geotechnical Designer - Ian has extensive experience of geotechnical design within a consultancy environment. He has particular experience of producing pragmatic, cost effective solutions for infrastructure projects, including leading a geotechnical team as part of the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (“SCIRT”) from 2011 to 2014. He is a New Zealand Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
