Leading professional services company, GHD, has been awarded the Carer Friendly Employer Award by Carers NT in Northern Territory, Australia.
The award recognised the company’s flexible working arrangements for employees who have caregiving responsibilities.
Carers NT is a Northern Territory based not-for-profit organisation that recognises and values carers as a significant asset, with the Carer Friendly Business Awards used to identify businesses and individuals who have gone above and beyond to support carers.
Kate Finch, Business Development and Marketing Manager – Northern Territory, works from home one day a week in order to care for her father.
“I am truly appreciative of the way GHD supports myself, and other employees, who need to care for loved ones at home. By working from home once a week, I’m able to spend time looking after my dad, which also provides a little respite for my mother,” says Kate.
The company also has a number of programs in place to support employees with children, including the option to work part-time or work from home. In Darwin, GHD people can bring their children to work when other supervision has not been organised, with the office providing table games, a reclined breastfeeding chair and a baby change table.
Brian Webster, Manager – Northern Territory, comments, “We recognise that our people have personal responsibilites outside of work, and that they may need support to balance those responsibilites. We value the dedication all of our caregiving employees show in maintaining their role at GHD and supporting their family.”
This award reinforces GHD’s position as a leader in diversity and inclusion, with the organisation receiving the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Employer of Choice citation each year for the past four years.
GHD works hard to make flexibility the norm for both men and women through supporting employee flexible working arrangements and work/life integration.
