GHD receives global recognition for civil design innovation and automation
At the 12d International Innovation Awards in Brisbane, GHD's Seb Woodland and Ben Olsen received the Customisation & Macros Award for their innovative use of the 12d platform and its API to build tools that streamline project delivery and make it easier for teams to meet client requirements.
Additionally, Ben received the Overall 12d International Innovation Award 2026 for automating workflows that reduced manual effort and increased quality of deliverables for drainage, geotechnical and information management. His innovation showcased the practical impact of applying technology and automation to improve project outcomes, efficiency and consistency.
"We built a variety of custom 12d tools and automations to solve real problems on our projects: automating and scaling repetitive elements of designing roads, rail, water and drainage to reduce errors, improve consistency and achieve higher-quality outcomes. In an industry under pressure to do more with tighter budgets and timelines, that translates into projects delivered with greater certainty and speed. These global accolades, face-to-face with the best in our industry, show we are a team that is constantly striving to find smarter ways to work,” said Steven Bloomer, GHD’s Digital Design Service Line Leader – APAC.
