Wellbeing, connection and adaptability enable aging in place
At a glance
Altum Living sets a new standard for retirement living in Western Australia and responds directly to the new wave of seniors who are seeking high quality, apartment style living close to transport, recreation, hospitality and community facilities.
The challenge
Design apartments that not only meet the diverse and evolving needs of aging residents but also foster a sense of community.
Our response
The Altum Living development comprises 51 apartments and generous communal facilities. These adaptable apartments allow residents to age with dignity as their needs evolve to continue living independently.
With strong evidence that connection to nature enhances wellbeing, floor to ceiling glazing in each apartment maximises daylight and views, while providing protection from the sea breeze. Individual apartment and communal outdoor living areas encourage relaxation, social connection and engagement with nature.
Thoughtfully designed to achieve a 5-star Green Star rating, the interiors feature wide circulation paths, oversized doors and ensuite configurations that accommodate mobility aids, reduce trip hazards and facilitate ease of movement. Apartment design allows for the easy integration of grab rails and other supportive features, allowing residents to continue living comfortably and adapt the interior as their physical needs change.
The range of communal facilities reflects the aspirations and needs of active seniors in their sixties and seventies including a gym, pool, café and hairdresser. These facilities are strategically located to maximise interaction with the street and adjacent public open spaces, providing residents with an engaging outlook that fosters a connection with the wider community.
The impact
Altum Living enhances independent living and promotes wellbeing by fostering social connections to family, friends and the broader community.
