ADL02 Data Centre, enabling growth in Adelaide’s digital infrastructure
At a glance
A secure data centre designed to expand Adelaide’s digital capacity, supporting government and enterprise digital needs. The ADL02 facility enables long-term growth and strengthens Adelaide’s position as a hub for digital infrastructure.
The challenge
DCI Data Centres needed to expand Kidman Park while keeping the existing ADL01 facility operational. This required a secure, phased design with minimal disruption and maintained continuity.
Our response
GHD led this project from concept to completion, drawing on our multidisciplinary capabilities across design, engineering and infrastructure. Our involvement with the ADL02 project began in 2016, starting with concept design, authority negotiations and approvals. This included developing strategies for cost-effective economic utility connections with SA Power Networks and SA Water. The concept allowed for a 10 MW site to be developed over several phases.
Our design approach allowed the completion of ADL02 with just one interruption to ADL01 operations for the integration of site infrastructure. Over the various stages of the project, GHD Design delivered architecture, interior design and landscape, while GHD provided civil, structural, building service (mechanical, electrical fire & hydraulics), ICT and security services. Delivered under a Design & Construct arrangement for Besix Watpac, GHD also managed construction documentation and monitoring. This integrated approach delivered a Tier III, secure facility that supports Kidman Park’s future expansion.
