By introducing a comprehensive, centralised waste disposal management solution across multiple geographies and business units, we are helping our client introduce efficiencies and cost savings. Without an appropriate waste disposal management solution, companies face several operational, workforce, and environmental challenges (i.e., health and safety concerns, pollution, and contamination), alongside disposal costs.
Our oil and gas client had an internal residual management group, which consisted of around 20 employees and 30 to 50 separate vendors who managed all waste related to their supply and distribution (i.e., operational waste, spill waste, and project waste).
Eventually, this operational structure became too expensive and unorganised for our client. More importantly, as expenses mounted and many stakeholders overlapped during day-to-day operations, it became difficult for our client to ensure regulatory compliance, specifically in the Western region of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico.
The team from our Digital and Waste Services groups customised disposal management and compliance services, built to deliver the following components:
GHD has done great work on the waste program, they are fully incorporated with operations and did a great job managing the day to day. They have also found creative ways to minimise waste and save us money.

Over the years, the Cardiff Beach shoreline in the City of Encinitas has been susceptible to coastal erosion and flooding due to storm surges, sea-level rise and wave energy. The City was looking for a way to protect their precious shoreline and the Coast Highway 101, adjacent to Cardiff State Beach, from current and future threats.
GHD implemented an integrated digital and professional services waste management and compliance program across 500 sites for a leading North American midstream oil and gas company. Our integrated approach streamlined operations, enhanced visibility and delivered significant cost savings while ensuring regulatory compliance, transforming a fragmented system into an efficient enterprise-wide program.
