One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services companies, GHD, continues to garner accolades for its industry-leading commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
At a prestigious gala event in Sydney, GHD was named Highly Commended in the Engineers Australia’s Women in Engineering Awards, in the category ‘Most Outstanding Company in Gender Diversity’.
May Ngui, a Director of GHD and Manager of the Western Sydney office, was invited to speak as one of the founding members of the Sydney Women in Engineering committee, which celebrated its 10th anniversary on the night.
May's message was one of vision and hope. Although statistics continue to show a gender imbalance in engineering, May pointed out that the audience of female engineers was testament to the success of diversity programs. According to May, the engineering profession must continue the dialogue on gender diversity, while also conveying a positive future to younger female engineers.
Phil Duthie, General Manager – Australia, comments, “We are delighted to again receive external recognition of our progress as we implement our three-year plan to be an industry leader for diversity and inclusion in Australia. We consider this a journey, not a destination because embracing diversity of thought, background and experience is crucial to delivering innovative and responsive solutions for our clients.”
