Leading professional services company GHD is working with E7, a field-based construction delivery solutions company, to enable real-time digital project insights for its Contract Administration services in South Queensland.
GHD’s Contract Administration team in Queensland is currently managing more than AUD2 billion worth of transport infrastructure contracts on behalf of their client, the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Successful execution of these contracts is crucial to the overall success of the projects for the state.
“On a daily basis we have more than 40 inspectors and site engineers collecting data in the field relating to construction progress, resource usage and significant events,” says Mike Bryett, GHD’s Leader for Infrastructure Delivery in South Queensland.
E7’s new web-based platform will help transfer GHD’s Field Inspector’s Daily Diary online and provide its clients with comprehensive information about their construction sites and the performance of their contractors.
“Working with E7 is a game-changer for us. We can now streamline our previous data collection and diary production processes, in a single, easy-to-use app that operates on mobile phones, tablets and laptops,” says Mike.
“We are very pleased to now be able to provide our contract administrators with highly accurate and factual site information to create ‘as-built’ programs, assess complex contractual claims and analyse the impact of delays to a project.”

E7’s software also reduces inspectors’ time needed in the office processing photos and other site data, allowing them to spend more time out in the field. And the real-time uploading of images and significant site events to the Cloud means that engineers and project managers are notified immediately on urgent matters.
Adrian Smith, E7’s Director and CTO, says, “E7 welcomes the relationship with GHD as it represents growth into a new and important area.
“We have a long history with Industrial and Civil Contractors and look forward to working with GHD as a client representative. This is a consequence of what we see as a digitalisation culture within GHD and is aligned with our vision of better construction project performance.”
Mike adds: “It is an added bonus that the E7 team is similarly invested in our industry and has the same passion for client experience that we have.
“We are excited to be able to leverage this new relationship beyond South Queensland to positively impact our projects across the rest of Australia. We are already currently training some of our other Project Management teams to use the tool and are also looking to expand the success to some of our international offices,” says Mike.
A number of GHD’s projects in South Queensland are set to immediately experience the benefits from the new relationship including the AUD1 billion Bruce Highway Cooroy to Curra Section D (Gympie Bypass) and the AUD1 billion M1 Varsity Lakes to Tugun Upgrade on the Gold Coast.
