Social media, citizen journalism and empowered communities all place organisations and their projects under increasing public scrutiny. In this environment, the value of communications and engagement – and the cost of getting it wrong – has never been greater.
In response, GHD has expanded its specialist communications and engagement offering with the appointment of four new consultants – Kate Woodruffe, Luke Chippindale, Gez Johns and Joel Rowan.
Al Monro, General Manager NZ, said, “The public expects organisations delivering infrastructure and policy projects to engage, and manage their impact on communities and the environment. Helping our clients to navigate what can often be a sensitive environment, and ensuring communities are properly consulted, are central to the way we do business. Working together with our clients, we are focused on delivering solutions that create lasting benefit for New Zealand communities.”
The new GHD team has extensive experience in creating and implementing successful communications and engagement strategies on technically challenging projects and within multi-disciplinary teams and challenging environments. Collectively they have worked across a broad range of industries including construction, transport, housing, aviation, regulation, water and telecommunications.
GHD Communications and Engagement Lead Kate Woodruffe commented, “Where there is a risk of public outrage, there is also the corresponding opportunity to enhance an organisation’s reputation and strengthen relationships through communication and engagement. We keep this top-of-mind mind when working alongside our clients on projects, to ensure we create long-term value as well as supporting a project’s successful completion.
“Our team shares a common goal of success through collaboration, and I’m looking forward to achieving some great results for our clients.”
Alongside its consulting service, GHD offers a range of digital platforms and engagement tools including bespoke solutions for organisations with specific requirements. The NZ team are connected to and able to draw on the capabilities of a wider network of communications, engagement and social sustainability professionals across GHD.
