Global professional services company, GHD has been selected as managing contractor for the Transport Sector Support Program Phase 2 (TSSP2) in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
TSSP is funded by the Australian Government as a key pillar of the growing economic partnership between Papua New Guinea and Australia.
The goal of the program is to enable economic growth by improving the safety and reliability of land, aviation and maritime transport to facilitate the efficient flow of produce to markets, and the provision of essential services and consumer goods.
GHD has been selected because of its global capability and experience in transport as well as its rapidly growing PNG team made up of PNG professionals.
David Kinniburgh, GHD’s Contractor Representative for TSSP2 says: “Transport is essential for people to access local and global markets as well as essential services. Both the mountainous terrain in the Highlands and the many islands of PNG mean many areas are hard to access. We look forward to working with the Government of Papua New Guinea and other stakeholders on this transformative project that will deliver improvement in the quality of lives and long-term benefits for the community.”
