One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services companies, GHD, congratulates its clients who were shortlisted for outstanding project management achievements at the NZ Project Management Institute Awards in Auckland.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Te Ara I Whiti – Lightpath cycleway and Auckland Transport’s Albany Highway North Upgrade were both selected as finalists for Public Sector Project of the Year.
GHD provided a variety of technical services to support the successful delivery of both projects, which were chosen for the shortlist of four finalists out of more than 40 entries.
Te Ara I Whiti – Lightpath cycleway
In just 14 months from concept to completion, the Lightpath project converted the disused Nelson Street Offramp into a vital 1 km link for cyclists and pedestrians around the Auckland CBD.
The project was nominated for its collaborative and delivery-focused team approach, comprising the NZ Transport Agency, GHD together with Novare Design, Hawkins Infrastructure and Monk Mackenzie. This enabled the creation of a beautiful new urban space within an ambitious timeframe and on budget.
Additionally, NZ Transport Agency’s Ronnie Salunga was also a finalist for Project Manager of the Year for his work on the cycleway. The nomination for this prestigious award highlighted his focus on leadership, innovation, risk and change management, and for fostering a collaborative approach between all parties.
GHD provided project management, engineering design and planning services for this iconic addition to Auckland’s infrastructure.
Albany Highway North Upgrade
Auckland Transport’s Albany Highway North Upgrade will more than double the highway’s capacity, with features that include new signals, transit lanes, a new bridge and wider footpaths.
The project stands out for the creation of a dedicated ‘Copenhagen-style’ cycle corridor – a first for Auckland.
GHD’s role includes planning, assessment, design and construction phase services.
