One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services companies, GHD, has named Mark Ingram as General Manager for the Europe and Middle East region. Mark will also have direct responsibility for managing GHD’s UK operations.
Mark assumes the General Manager role from Ashley Wright who will be GHD’s next Chief Executive Officer following Ian Shepherd’s retirement at the end of March 2016.
GHD employs almost 500 people in the Europe and Middle East region, including a network of offices across the UK as well as significant operations in the UAE and Qatar. The company expanded its local presence in May 2015 with the acquisition of UK consulting engineering business GHA Livigunn (now known as GHD Livigunn).
Mark joined GHD in May 2015 as part of the GHA Livigunn acquisition, having been Managing Director of GHA Livigunn since its formation in 2006. Prior to that Mark was Managing Director and founder of Livingston Gunn Projects.
Mark says, “I am excited by the opportunities in our region. GHD has been present in the UK and Middle East for many years but it’s only recently that we have been able to develop these operations into a platform for future growth. The biggest change has seen us transition from a primarily transport-based business in the UK to being able to offer services across all of GHD’s market sectors: water, energy & resources, environment, property & buildings, and transportation.
“We are capitalising on these opportunities by connecting clients with the capabilities that exist within teams in our region as well as across GHD’s global network. The UK has a strong infrastructure-led economy and we are pursuing growth in regional areas with a network of offices close to our clients.
“For example, we are designing works to rehabilitate sections of the Elan Valley Aqueduct, which carries water from Wales to secure Birmingham’s supplies for the next century. In Lincolnshire, Humberside and South Wales, we are designing advanced thermal treatment plants that will turn woodchips and waste into renewable energy.
“Our Middle East offices continue to perform strongly, delivering landmark projects such as the Executive Jet Terminal at the Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai and the Lusail Light Rail Depot in Qatar.”
Based in Frodsham, Cheshire, Mark is a chemical engineer, a UK Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers. Throughout this 30 year career he has focused on design, project management and operations within the water, chemical and nuclear sectors.
