GHD is extending its presence in the UK water industry as design partner to Galliford Try Infrastructure Ltd as part of Yorkshire Water’s £1 billion Complex Civils Framework, covering a range of civil engineering requirements across the water company’s clean and wastewater assets.
During the AMP7 period covering 2020-25, GHD’s team will support the design, build and refurbishment of clean and waste water treatment assets, reservoirs and pumping stations to reliably enhance Yorkshire Water’s asset base to meet the needs of more than 5 million customers.
GHD’s designs have been helping contractors deliver water and wastewater projects in Yorkshire Water’s region for over 20 years. Since 2015 GHD has co-located with the water company employees and contractors to support the delivery of the AMP6 wastewater infrastructure programme across South and West Yorkshire. Particular highlights include the multi-award-winning Bransholme Surface Water Pumping Station and CIWEM sustainability champion for the development of solutions to deal with rising main bursts.
Water regulator Ofwat has challenged all water companies to deliver more for less for customers during AMP7, driving increased demand for innovative solutions from both consultants and contractors.
Mark Baker, Head of Programme Delivery at Yorkshire Water, commented: "We are excited to welcome our partners to support our ambitions and challenges into AMP7. They will assist in the formation of a truly collaborative, innovative and efficient delivery vehicle to help meet our Enterprise delivery model aspirations. The alignment of our objectives and a Programme First approach is a new direction for Yorkshire Water and we are confident that our partners can support this ambition."
Tom Foley, GHD’s General Manager – UK, said: “We have been consistently recognised for engineering designs that consider buildability and efficiency. To meet the needs of Yorkshire Water and its customers, we look forward to working in partnership with Galliford Try on smart engineering solutions for successful capital project delivery.”
