The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) announced that GHD, as part of the CAP Contrecoeur team, led by VINCI Co., was one of the three consortiums shortlisted for the Port of Montreal expansion project - a new terminal in Contrecœur, Quebec, Canada.
The Contrecoeur terminal is the cornerstone of the region’s expansion of the container market in Quebec and Eastern Canada. Realizing the investment enables opportunity for Greater Montreal and its surrounding areas. Social and economic benefits are vast, bringing nearly 5,000 jobs with it. When fully operational, the container terminal in Contrecoeur could handle 1.15 million twenty-foot container units per year.
The CAP Contrecoeur team consists of:
- Eurovia Québec Grands Projets
- Janin Atlas
- Soletanche Bachy International
- VINCI Infrastructure Canada
- GHD Consultants
- COWI North America
- Jacobs (CH2M Hill Canada)
GHD’s Gillian Millar of our Maritime and Coastal team will act as Design Manager during the proposal and design-build phases to ensure design solutions and deliverables meet or exceed the basis of design and project requirements.
“This is an exciting project opportunity for GHD as Prime Designer, particularly given our local presence in Quebec and Montreal. We will be able to contribute to the economic stimulus of our own communities and bring together some of the best talent in the ports sector on a landmark maritime project.”
