Employee-owned professional services company, GHD, has appointed Naran Shankla as Rail Technical Director, UK.
Naran Shankla joins GHD from High Speed 2 (HS2) to further strengthen the company’s established rail business in the UK. A chartered Civil Engineer, Naran Shankla brings twenty years of experience in leading multidisciplinary teams for complex rail and building projects.
Craig Stockton, Managing Director – UK at GHD, said on the appointment: “Naran will help lead the design of multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects across our UK business. Naran’s expertise and wealth of experience boosts GHD’s robust rail capability and I am delighted to welcome him to the business.”
Prior to joining GHD, Naran Shankla worked on high profile projects including the Euston station redevelopment with HS2. Naran has also held senior positions at Crossrail, the new high frequency, high capacity railway for London and the south east.
A Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building, Naran Shankla has extensive international experience having worked in Europe, East Africa, Far East and the Middle East.

The organisation has recently been appointed to provide engineering and technical support to the Department for Transport in the delivery of Real World Emission tests on a selection of rolling stock types in an operational environment.
