Alongside our partners, Tauranga City Council and Fulton Hogan, we’re committed to developing and supporting the next generation of civil engineers. We call this “Project New Grad”. An award-winning, three-year rotation program equipping engineering graduates with a range of skills and experience to understand our industry from the perspective of the consultant, client, and contractor.
Launching for the first time in the Bay of Plenty, participants will rotate across each partner organisation, learning from, and being mentored by some of the industry’s most experienced professionals. They’ll experience planning a city for the future, designing the programme of work that follows, and ultimately be part of construction projects when they break ground.
“This is an awesome opportunity for budding engineers to gain well-rounded experience across all aspects of infrastructure delivery,” shares Fulton Hogan’s Bay of Plenty Manager, Anita Varga. Our Regional Leader for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, Ryan Orr, launched his engineering career through Project New Grad in Auckland 13 years ago. “The program shaped me into who I am today, giving me the experience of being a client, consultant and contractor – all within a supportive environment,” shares Ryan. “The infrastructure challenge is particularly pressing in Tauranga as Aotearoa’s fastest growing city. It’s important that we’re training people locally and giving them exposure to all aspects of the project lifecycle.”
Tauranga City Council’s General Manager, Niclas Johansson, says, “I’m committed to providing these graduates with a well-rounded experience, contributing to making Tauranga better every day.”
From 13 March 2023, we’re seeking applications from civil engineering graduates who are passionate about the future of water for our 2024 intake. If you (or someone you know) have an interest in working across the full project lifecycle whilst contributing to the wider community, we want to hear from you. In return, you will gain hands-on experience in civil engineering and project management, whilst developing technical and behavioural skills and qualifications that will support your career development.
Applications close 8 April 2023
