Colin Dominish, Sydney Market Leader – Transport, has been discussing the plans for Western Sydney Airport and the Badgerys Creek Aerotropolis at the Western Sydney Aerotropolis Summit.
GHD was proud to sponsor this leading discussion on how the aerotropolis is starting to take shape. Feedback provided by all three levels of government, representatives from Schiphol and Incheon Airport Cities, and industry associations serving the Western Sydney area identified clear drivers for the success of the aerotropolis.
In particular, the aerotropolis needs to be:
- Liveable – green, sustainable, biophillic, environmentally friendly, healthy
- Digital – transformational, innovative, automated, advanced
- Collaborative – sharing, complementary, enabling, supportive
- Catalytic – transformational, creating jobs, serving residents, attractive
- Connected – providing passenger and freight links from north to south, and east to the other cities
Many presenters made note of how the Western Sydney City Deal will play an important part in achieving these attributes.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the GHD map of infrastructure needed for a successful aerotropolis.
