World Health Day is on 7th April 2018, and commemorates the founding of the World Health Organisation. It is a day where the importance of health in human development is recognised.
GHD is committed to fostering a culture of health and safety for all staff. Building on these core values, GHD brings the same focus and attention to the management of international development programs.
GHD is the Fund Coordinator for Water for Women - Australia’s flagship Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program in Asia and the Pacific. As part of it’s this role GHD works to raise the awareness of a holistic approach to health and hygiene to support the program’s goal of “improved health, gender equality and well-being of Asian and Pacific communities through inclusive, sustainable WASH”.
Between 2017 and 2022, and in partnership with the 10 Australian and international Civil Society Organisations, and across 16 countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific, 19 WASH projects will be initiated , involving hygiene behaviour change, maternal and child health and menstrual hygiene management. The projects will work to strengthen capacities of households, schools, communities, government and health centres to improve health outcomes for all.
