Coastal communities face growing challenges in conserving and improving the health of their natural environments, while also ensuring safe and thriving populations. Continued economic growth is driving demand for coastal development and infrastructure, while changing sea levels, natural disasters and economic support for sustainable practices are prompting the need to re-think our resilient engineering.
We have expanded our global maritime and coastal team in North America, equipping us with a diverse team of professionals to develop the most effective adaptations and solutions to these challenges. Our distinguished team includes recognized leaders in marine structures, climate change, coastal and maritime design and modelling, waterfront development, port planning and logistics, coastal and ecosystem restoration, coastal zone resource planning, shoreline protection engineering and construction, biological monitoring, and reef restoration.
Steven Davie, Maritime and Coastal Leader – North America, said, “GHD has built a skilled team of maritime experts. We have incredible depth and diversity of experience, allowing us to take a holistic approach to our client’s challenges.”
Located in key coastal communities including California, Georgia, Virginia, and the Gulf Coast states of Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, the team is developing living shorelines in North Carolina and California. The Cardiff State Beach living shoreline project is the first of its kind in southern California and will reduce the vulnerability of Coast Highway 101 to flooding, create coastal dune habitat, and create a pedestrian path to connect nearby communities. Our team is also working to develop and protect critical infrastructure in ports located along all North American coasts.
