GHD recognized within Canada’s top 100 Best Diversity Employers
GHD has been named one of ‘Canada’s Best Diversity Employers’ 2024 by Mediacorp Canada Inc., acknowledging our actions to create an inclusive workplace that sees, hears and supports all identities.
The announcement comes as a welcome recognition to GHD Canada’s focus on inclusion and diversity across all areas and practices. “The employee resource groups give our LGBTQ+, Hispanic, Asian, Black, neurodiverse, Indigenous and women employees opportunities to get together and network,” says Jan Fontana, GHD’s people leader for Canada, who notes that inclusion and diversity initiatives are in line with the company’s vision to create lasting benefits in the communities it works with. “Everyone is invited, allies are welcome to come and talk about what’s going on in the world, and there’s strong support from our leaders.”
According to the criteria established by Mediacorp, this year’s winners excelled in their actions to make changes for tangible impact for their employees, making room for cultural observances and adding flexible statutory policies which enable employees to exchange time-off on stat holidays for days that hold cultural importance to them. In its 17th year, Canada’s Best Diversity Employers award evaluates an organization’s commitment to inclusion and diversity with initiatives for five groups: women; members of visible minorities; persons with disabilities; Indigenous peoples; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) peoples. As noted by Mediacorp, these are criteria GHD meets and exceeds with an inclusion and diversity policy that transcends the HR function. Informing everything from hiring practices to committee appointments, as well as the establishment of employee resource groups to support diverse and often marginalized populations and supporting external actions, such as diversity-related community partnerships, vendor and supplier diversity initiatives.
GHD Canada has also been named a Top Employer for Canada in 2023 and 2024, a Waterloo Area 2024 Top Employer and a southwestern Ontario 2024 Top Employer.
