Craig Hugo, Senior Civil Engineer at GHD, has been selected to join the exclusive Roads Australia 2023 Australia Fellowship Program.

The Roads Australia (RA) Fellowship Program is an unique opportunity to be part of a national mentoring initiative, aimed at developing our industry’s next generation leaders. The program runs for 12 months with a new intake at the end of each year. Since its inception in 2015, the program has been highly sought after and supported by industry leaders, with mentors including current and former chief executives of road and transport agencies.

Craig has wide experience across the Transport market, with a particular focus on road design encompassing planning, coordination, investigation, supervision, design, business development and commercial management.

Building and maintaining positive working relationships is something Craig prides himself on. He is GHD’s Design Manager on the AUD500 million Tonkin Gap Alliance project where he had led an integrated team of up to 60 people. He is also GHD’s Client Relationship Manager for WA Contractors, and in this role he has worked to entrench a long-term relationship.

“I’m thrilled to be selected as a RA Fellow. I’m really looking forward to actively working with my mentor to continue to build and refine my leadership skills and to also build my skills to be part of the generation of engineers driving changes in key areas such as the improvement of diversity in our industry, increased implementation of digital design and project delivery, decarbonisation of infrastructure and other sustainability and wellbeing initiatives,” says Craig.

Mikel Alonso, Australian Market Leader – Transport says, “Craig is an outstanding engineer and highly sought-after contributor to major projects. Aside from being technically excellent, Craig is also highly personable, committed, resilient and above all dependable. He has brought these attributes to the two primary functions he currently fulfills for us at GHD – Client Relationship Manager for WA Contractors and Design Manager for the Tonkin Gap Alliance project. We are proud of Craig’s success to join the fellowship program, and excited to see the further impact he will make in the industry.”

Craig follows on from GHD’s Erin Jackson, Smart Transport Lead who was selected as Tasmania’s first ever RA Fellow in 2020, and Liz Tinlin, GHD’s Business Group Leader – Bridges, Victoria, who was also selected as a RA Fellow in 2021.
