Global professional services company GHD has appointed Tai Hollingsbee as its new Head of Sustainability, Asia Pacific. Tai’s newly created role will focus on growing GHD’s sustainability services and market share across the APAC region.

"Sustainability is our driving force at GHD, connecting teams across disciplines and geographies to help our clients achieve their environmental, economic and social goals. This new role will enable greater integration of our sustainability services to better meet the needs of the APAC market," says Sonia Adams, GHD's Chief Client Officer.

With an international career spanning nearly 25 years, Tai has held a variety of roles across the sustainability and built environment portfolio in the APAC Region. Most recently, he was the National Building Engineering Leader for Australia, focused on portfolio decarbonisation and translating United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into physical outcomes for global clients.

"The performance of our clients in the APAC region, across a wide range of sustainability metrics, will underpin the success of the broader world being able to achieve the Paris Agreement ambitions. I see this role as enabling GHD to filter out the noise in the market and work directly with our clients to realise their contributions to the Paris Agreement," says Tai.

Tai grew up in Hong Kong and worked across the Asia Pacific region, including the first United Nations building to walk the talk of the UNSDGs. He also established a construction technology company that worked in community housing with remote communities in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Tai adds: "We are already doing impactful work with global businesses in APAC. I see my role as helping us extend and fortify our presence; and to grow in the spaces we do our best work. In one respect, and maybe poetically, the sustainability work we do is at the intersection of reality and hope. We know how to turn 'targets' into reality, and our strategies are informed by GHD's extensive built experience, globally."

Tai commenced his new role on 27 November.
