Global professional services company, GHD has been awarded the design on the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 Enabling Works project in Sydney, Australia.

The enabling works will cover 1.3 km and will include a public and active transport bridge between Melrose Park and Wentworth Point. The new bridge will carry buses, light rail, pedestrians and cyclists over Parramatta River - improving connection for communities on both sides of the river. This project is a key part of the NSW Government’s planned Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 network, which will include 9.5 kilometres of walking and cycling paths once fully completed.

GHD will deliver the design services for John Holland Group, working with Tony Gee and CM Plus.

GHD’s responsibilities include geotechnical interpretation and design, hydrodynamic and hydrological analysis of the Parramatta River works, civil and structural engineering, and alignment and integration.

“The new public and active transport bridge is set to become a vital piece of infrastructure, enhancing connection between Parramatta and Olympic Peninsula and supporting the growth of the Parramatta region,” said Rebecca Want, GHD’s Sydney Transport Market Leader.
