GHD and AECOM support VicGrid to accelerate Victoria’s energy transition
As Victoria transitions to renewable energy, VicGrid expects to coordinate the planning, development and delivery of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones and associated transmission infrastructure. It is expected to also lead to investment in projects to strengthen and modernise the state’s energy grid, including the delivery of transmission required to connect new offshore wind resources to the grid.
GHD has been appointed to provide a wide range of technical advisor services, including engineering, land, planning and environmental approvals, community and stakeholder engagement, and social procurement, including partnering with First Nations subcontractors.
“GHD is proud to work alongside AECOM and VicGrid on this landmark and transformative program. We’re uniquely placed to contribute with nearly 100 years of experience in shaping Victoria's infrastructure alongside our local presence in Mildura, Wodonga, Geelong, and Traralgon, enabling us to collaborate closely with Traditional Owners, community groups, and businesses to support VicGrid's proposed Renewable Energy Zones and other energy projects statewide," said Chris French, Regional General Manager – Victoria, GHD.
“This transformational project for Victoria provides us with an exciting opportunity to draw on our whole of project lifecycle capabilities in engineering, environmental consulting, community engagement, digital and advisory services and leverage our deep experience working with government and the public sector, which aligns with our purpose of making water, energy, and communities sustainable for generations to come,” added Peter Benyon, GHD’s Australian Power Market Leader.
