GHD New Zealand/Pacific appoints new market leader - water
Piers Lehmann, has been appointed Market Leader - Water for the Aotearoa New Zealand/Pacific region. He steps into the role following Siobhan Hartwell move to Regional General Manager - NZPAC. As Market Leader, Piers will lead the commercial strategy for GHD's water business in New Zealand and the Pacific.
With over twenty years of experience in asset management, governance and digital information systems, Piers is accomplished at guiding teams through complex and transformational change.Through his earlier work advising organisations on the transition to new technologies, to more recently leading a division tasked with improving the function of asset management, Piers brings a unique perspective to the Water Sector at a time of reform. He says, "there's uncertainty about what change means, but there's also excitement. The Three Waters Reform is a once in a lifetime opportunity to set Aotearoa New Zealand on a new course for the future."
Piers notes the industry's movement toward what ultimately matters - water, "Honouring the values set out by Te Mana o te Wai means placing this taonga at the heart of everything we do - our ways of working, our systems and our mindsets. This is an opportunity for us to shift our thinking. It is a challenge to us as an industry to evolve, to approach our mahi more holistically, to integrate sustainable practices in a way that is unique to Aotearoa. We know that change is necessary and the opportunity to put water at the centre will impact generations to come."
In his new role, Piers will work together with our clients to solve the challenges facing the Water Sector. In doing so, he aspires to help reposition water as a central system to our planet, whilst integrating new technical concepts that foster resilience, lower carbon and contribute to a more circular economy.
"We are delighted that Piers has stepped into the role of Market Leader - Water, his varied background will enable him to navigate through the macro forces shaping the sector, whilst challenging and changing our approach to achieve the best outcomes for water and our communities".
